Mobile Push Email
The ever increasing importance of corporate email communication means it is fast becoming a necessity, rather than a luxury, for employees to have access to their email facilities whilst on the move. Push email allows users to send and receive email directly from their handheld device or mobile phone. Octavia have vast and varied experience in implementing such solutions utilising either Blackberry or Microsoft Exchange Direct Push technologies.

Remote Access Solutions
There are a number of different technologies which can facilitate working from remote locations:

Virtual Private Networks
A VPN uses encryption and authentication mechanisms to provide secure communication between a remote user and a range of office resources such as email, printers, shared files, Intranets and databases.

Web Based Email Access
Web based email (such as Microsoft's Outlook Web Access) offers an excellent, feature rich method for users to access their email through a standard web browser. Exchange 2003 and 2007 also enables the use of MS Outlook over an encrypted internet connection from any location without the need for a VPN connection.

Web Based Collaboration Tools
These systems, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, allow access to documents and other company data from a remote web browser.

Remote Desktop
Products like Microsoft's Terminal Services, Citrix and 2x allow users to work on a desktop that is identical to the one at their desk in the office. This service provides the closest solution to providing all the software of function available in the office out to the remote worker.

Offline working
When no connection is available, offline working allows users to work on company emails and documents which can then be synchronised when connectivity is restored. Products such as Microsoft Info Path and SoftGrid allow users to enter data or use business applications remotely with no network connectivity. When connected back onto the network all data collected is syncronised.
