Microsoft Windows 7 Release Date Announced!!
For those of you like me that have downloaded the Release Candidate (RC) of the new Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System (OS), the official news surrounding the release dates of this new OS development comes with a certain amount of anticipation.
Windows 7 will be released to manufacture (RTM) in the closing weeks of July, to be pre-installed on machines ready for an official release on the 22nd October this year.
So what's new in Windows 7?
As you can imagine there are many resources on the web and within the new Windows 7 websites popping up everywhere stating all the new features and functionality of the new Windows OS, but one statement in particular struck me and that was:
"If your machine runs Windows Vista then it should run Windows 7 faster"
As I write this I am already foreseeing rolling eyes as this bold statement is made, after all Vista was the feature rich answer-to-all Operating System. But what I can say is after working on Windows 7 for a while now (and installing it at home and using its Media Centre functionality) is that it does seem on the whole faster with boot times that have halved from the pre-existing Vista OS.
Other features include a redesigned task bar, gadgets on the desktop, improved battery life for notebooks and many others that you can find on the web link below.
